Service Description
Dogs are born with an incredible sense of smell! Why not let them use it? Scent work is the activity of teaching your dog to recognize specific odors, while hunting independently in a controlled setting. Students will learn how to read their dogs's body language early on in the process, while dogs gain independence in searching. Birch odor is introduced in this class. The learning process of scent work varies with each dog and owner. Dogs will be ready to move to the intermediate level when ready. Criteria for moving up include, but are not limited to: * Dog is hunting independently * Dog is able to source odor with and without pairing * Owner recognizes when dog is "in odor" and "at source" * Owner consistently demonstrates proper reward timing Prerequisite: Successful completion of Intro to Scent Work Class or by instructor approval
